Note: Your third and final video assignment is due on Dec. 17. Begin planning your project and reserving equipment and editing rooms now.
WEEK 11 – Nov 19
CUT TO SWIPE, a media exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art.
Trip to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA): Admission is free with your CSI CUNY Student ID. Without ID admission is $25, so please remember to bring your ID.
Class meets at 11:30AM. Take the elevator to the second floor. At the top of the elevator, you will see the gallery for Cut to Swipe on your right. Prof. Dougherty will be outside the gallery with a sign-in sheet.
We will be there from 11:30 – 12:30.
DO NOT GET IN THE TICKET LINE. GO TO THE INFORMATION DESK WITH YOUR CUNY ID AND THEY WILL GIVE YOU A FREE TICKET.

How to get there:
Take the No. 6 Train to 51st St/Lexington Ave.
Walk north 2 blocks to 53rd Street
Walk 3-1/2 blocks west to MoMA entrance at 11. W. 53rd St.
Take the B, D, F or M train to 47 -50th Street/Rockefeller Center. Walk 3 blocks north to 53rd Street, and turn right onto 53rd. Walk 1/2 block east to 11 W. 53rd Street.
Take the E or M train to 53rd Street and walk 1 block west to 11 W. 53rd St.

Take notes, including the titles of works on view, the artist’s/maker’s name, medium, and date. The museum allows visitors to take photos of this exhibit, so take photos to remind yourself of the works on view.
Write down your impressions of what exhibitions you visited, and choose one or two works to write about in class next week. You will be writing 1 – 2 pages in class.
Preparation of this assignment includes looking up the artist and the work. Find out more about the artist and the background and context for the work. Bring your notes to class.
WEEK 12 – Nov 26
Recap: Digital Editing Basics – audio editing, fixing gaps in the timeline, creating a high quality QT movie.
In-class writing assignment: Using your notes from the visit to MoMA, write a response, or give your impressions of the work you saw. Focus on one or two specific pieces. Don’t forget to say the artist name, the title of the work, medium (video, slides, installation,etc), and date of completion.
